Job Title: Summer Assistant Swim Team Coach

Location: Tenby Chase Swim Club, Delran, New Jersey

Duration: Summer (Dates: May 27 – August 3)

Position Overview:
The Tenby Chase Sharks are seeking an energetic, patient, and fun individual knowledgeable
about swimming to be an Assistant Coach with the Tenby Chase Sharks and support our
Learn-to-Swim program. The candidate must be available to coach during afternoon practices
from May 27, 2024 through June 18, 2024 (times to be determined), as well as morning
practices and Learn-to-Swim program starting on June 19 through August 1st from 7:30 am to
12:00 The ideal candidate will have a love for swimming, a commitment to fostering a positive
team environment, and the ability to work with swimmers of all ages and skill levels. This role
includes coaching swimmers, assisting in practices, providing guidance, and ensuring safety
during swim team events.

Key Responsibilities:
● Assist in evaluating beginner swimmers at the beginning of the season to determine if
their skills are appropriate for the swim team.
● Assist the head coach in executing swim practices for swimmers aged 4 to 18, focusing
on skill development, technique improvement, and team building.
● Assist at all meets (Time Trials, Saturday Morning A Meets, Wednesday evening B
meets, Mini Meet, and the Jack Hafner and TriCounty Championship meets.)
● Prepare the meet sheets for the B-Meets (3 meets during the season) with the other
assistant coach.
● Assist the head coach in preparing A-meet meet sheets as directed by the head coach.
● Provide instruction and feedback to swimmers, helping them achieve their personal
goals.
● Supervise swimmers during practice sessions, ensuring their safety at all times.
● Attend team events such as pasta parties, Team BBQ, and other team spirit activities.
● Maintain a positive, supportive, and encouraging atmosphere for all swimmers,
promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
● Monitoring swimmers for safety and responding to emergencies as needed.
● Ensure compliance with all safety rules and guidelines in the pool area.
● Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for swim practices and meets.
● Communicate effectively with the Aquatics Director, Head Coach, other swim coaches,
swimmers, and parents of swimmers to address any concerns or provide updates.

Requirements:
● Prior coaching and swim lesson experience preferred
● Prior Tri-county or Suburban swimming experience preferred.

● Knowledge of all four competitive swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke,
and butterfly) is required.
● Current lifeguarding certification (must be valid throughout the summer).
● CPR and First Aid certification required (must be valid throughout the summer).
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for the sport.
● Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible.
