Position: Summer Swim Team Head Coach

 

Location: Old Orchard Swim Club

Start Date: March (Spring Warm-ups)

End Date: Early August (End of Season)

 

Job Summary:

The Old Orchard Swim Club is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Swim Coach to lead our summer swim team. The coach will be responsible for running spring warm-ups, managing weekday practices (including afternoon sessions with campers,) and overseeing swim meets including entries. The season begins with spring warm-ups in March and runs through early August, concluding with championship meets.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Spring Warm-ups: Lead swim practices beginning in March to prepare swimmers for the season (Single practice on weekends for 10 weeks).
• Practice Management: Conduct weekday afternoon practices starting after Memorial Day.   After school ends,practices shift to mornings with additional afternoon “camper” practices on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
• Meet Management: Provide real time feedback to swimmers during swim meets.
• Coordinate swimmer entries for all meets, including: 
• Tri-county “A” meets
• Tri-county “B” meets
• Old Orchard Mini Meet
• Barclay Farms Midi Meet
• Cherry Bowl Championships
• Tri-County Championships
• Leadership & Team Development: Foster a positive, encouraging, and fun atmosphere that promotes teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.
• Swimmer Development: Provide individualized feedback to swimmers during practices and swim meets to help swimmers improve technique and reach personal and team goals.
• Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate with parents and team volunteers regarding practice and meet logistics, team expectations, and swimmer progress.
 

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a competitive swim coach or swimmer.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with swimmers of various ages and skill levels.
• Experience putting together a meet line up and managing meet entries (familiarity with meet management software is a plus).
• CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
 

Schedule

• Spring Warm-ups: Begin in March with practices on designated days.
• Regular Season (Late May – Early August): Weekdaypractices, including afternoon camper sessions, plus swim meets as scheduled.
